The Soul Sounds Academy Intermediate Choir is a talented and versatile choir led by Artistic Director Soundarie David Rodrigo has announced their participation in the Bali International Choir Festival 2023. The festival, which is a major event in the international choral music calendar, will be held from July 25th to 29th 2023 in Bali, Indonesia. The academy's participation is an exciting opportunity for the students to showcase their vocal talents on a global stage, connect with fellow musicians from around the world and expand their musical horizons.

The festival features a variety of workshops, masterclasses, and concerts, providing a platform for choirs to come together, share their music, and learn from each other. The academy's students will have the opportunity to attend these workshops and masterclasses, learn from renowned choral experts, and participate in collaborative performances.

Soul Sounds Academy is known for its rigorous training programs and exceptional vocal performances, and its participation in the Bali International Choir Festival is a testament to the quality of its talent. The choir will have the chance to perform a range of music genres, including jazz, pop, classical and traditional Sri Lankan music, and showcase their skills to an international audience.

Soul Sounds Academy, founded in 2010, is an extension of the renowned Soul Sounds Choir, Sri Lanka's first all-female ensemble to enter the international choral arena. The academy was founded by Soundarie David Rodrigo, the artistic director of Soul Sounds Choir, with the objective of promoting choral singing in the country and nurturing the next generation of Sri Lankan vocal talent. Soul Sounds Academy offers training and mentorship to young singers from the age of 6 upwards, with a focus on building their vocal skills and nurturing their musical talents. As a result, the academy has become a breeding ground for Sri Lanka's top vocalists, with many of its alumni going on to join Soul Sounds Choir and other prestigious musical groups. Overall, Soul Sounds Academy is a testament to the Soul Sounds Choir's legacy of promoting music education and community outreach, and its commitment to inspiring future generations of musicians and artists.

The Soul Sounds Academy choir has gained recognition both locally and internationally, having participated in various music festivals and competitions, including the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales in 2010, the Asia Pacific Choir Games in Indonesia in 2013 and Sri Lanka in 2017, and the World Virtual Choir Festival in 2020. They have also performed at numerous concerts and events in Sri Lanka, showcasing their versatility in genres ranging from classical, gospel, pop, jazz to local music.

The choir's commitment to their craft is evident in their individual vocal training, which has helped them to continually better their voices and develop a deep understanding of music theory. This dedication to excellence has earned them a reputation as one of the most sought-after mixed choirs in Sri Lanka, with invitations to perform at many high-profile events.

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, the choir has remained active and has even entered several virtual competitions. Their resilience and determination to continue making music during these difficult times is a testament to their passion for choral singing and their commitment to their craft.
