Empowering Global Theatre Exchange Through Sri Lankan Artistry

The host organization is covering my artistic requirements and workshop facilitation costs. However, I am responsible for funding my international airfare and all in-country transportation and accommodation costs. The total estimated cost for this three-month international engagement is LKR 500,000.

I am currently teaching theatre (practical workshops) in small schools and working with aspiring actors, but this income alone will not suffice to meet the immediate financial requirement for this unique opportunity.

I am pleased to inform you that, through personal savings and contributions from my work teaching theatre workshops in local schools, I have already successfully secured LKR 300,000 (fifty percent) of the total required amount. This demonstrates my deep personal commitment to this endeavour. I now humbly request your Ministry's assistance in granting the remaining LKR 200,000 to bridge the financial gap before end of the September.

Desha have been a professional an artiste for twelve years and working in Theatre, Tele drama and Movie for ten years. He is Involved Human rights issues for globally as social activist and practicing to inform the people about their social issues with theatre activities and inspire as a researcher, enthusiasm of human behaviours and Cults.

Having grown up in a diverse, multicultural society, Desha have always been curious about how people's behaviours and language are connected, as well as the impact of their cultures on the agreements and disagreements that arise between them. Because of this curiosity, Desha believes that his educational journey, which has been shaped by the subjects of political science, art, and social science, aligns with his interests.

Journey in theatre began on the school stage and continued through his second year at university, where Desha pursued acting in television dramas. From an early age, he was drawn to acting, directing, and scriptwriting. Inspired by Stanislavski’s methodology, he sought ways to authentically represent the characters around his. Over four years at university, He developed his skills and learned how a director creates space for meaningful performances.

In today’s commercialized world, art, once a tool for healing, has become a commodity. His independent research supports this idea, highlighting that many in lower social classes lack opportunities to express their artistic talents, with their work often marginalized. Desha believes the artist and audience are interconnected, and he strive to create spaces for dialogue where people can reflect on their lives and engage meaningfully.
