‘Iddagahapitiya’ is a beautiful village situated in the Kurunegala district in the North-Western Province. Further, from Dummalasuriya it's around 6 Kms to this village and from Naththandiya town it's around 18 Kms. Additionally, around 88 families live in this village with nearly 400 of a population whose main source of income is farming. Furthermore, since piped water supply is unavailable in this village, they collect water to the wells during the rainy season which will be used in the rainy season itself since during the dry season all the wells dry up.

The main issue that the village is facing at the moment is that they don’t have a proper way to get purified water for drinking purposes. In fact, the village has a tube well which they used to get water for drinking purposes during the dry season but as a result of damage to the two ends and the valve of the tube well they no longer get purified water from that tube well and this issue has been there for 6 to 7 years. In fact, the well in the village is the only source of water for the entire village which is used during the rainy season yet during the dry season the well too gets dry.

Hence, thirteen Rotaract Clubs consisting of both Community based and Institute based clubs have got together with the intention of providing these folks with safe and clean water for their consumption which is essential for their day-to-day activities. Therefore, as a contribution in our level, we have decided to raise funds and install a rainwater purification system and renovate the existing tube well in the area.

Given the challenging times Sri Lankans are facing currently, we are confident that donors will be generous enough to help us achieve the target of Eight Hundred Thousand LKR. However, entertaining the possibility of not achieving this target, we decided to stratify the money target down to at least two Hundred Thousand LKR.

We are also open to any level of contribution from the community as well.

Rotaract is a world-wide youth-based organization who are driven to serve and change lives of the individuals in today’s society. Moving on, ‘Together Sri Lanka’ is a cluster project organized by the rotaract district every year and Project Dividara is a project under TSL, organized by a team out of all the other TSL teams with the collaboration of 13 other Clubs from the district. Due to the scale of this project, and the innovative initiatives to provide clean water, our budget is quite steep and it would be a huge help if we could get some donations as well.


Our target is to raise at least Rs. 200,000/= during the month of December or latest by 1st week of January.

Rotaract was founded in 1968 as a Rotary International youth program and has now evolved into a global organization with over 10,904 clubs and over 203,000 members in 189 countries. Rotaract's mission is to give young people the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will help them in their self-development, to address the physical and social community needs, and to encourage improved relations among all people across the world through a framework of friendship. Moreover, we are 13 rotaract clubs in Sri Lanka as named above which try to serve the community as much as possible in the best way possible through our platforms.
